Always exciting to see anything to do with the late great Earl Hooker. Here's photo confirmation that Earl played slide with his pinky!! http://drbgood.com/post/73478722570/earl-hooker-photo-by-jan-persson-earl-hooker-was

Thanks Sturgis! It's great to see that picture. I'm just getting started on my Earl Hooker journey...

I was interested to see Earl Hooker playing a Shaftesbury Barney Kessel copy in the photo link posted by Sturgis.

Shaftesbury guitars were imported into the UK in the late 60's early 70's. Read more about them here http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=55827

I wonder how Earl got his Shaftesbury?

I had a bolt on neck Shaftesbury Les Paul copy which I bought second hand in the early 70's for the princely sum of £50 (about $65), that was a fortune for me at the time. I dreamed of owning a real Les Paul but could never afford one. I played it for many years and eventually sold it, wish I'd kept it now.

Here is a photo of me with it https://goo.gl/photos/A7evYwZiEsTxbeUa8. And another one here https://goo.gl/photos/aVbUWjBcnD68CaWb9

The Shaftesbury line has been resurrected and they have a Les Paul style guitar http://www.shaftesburyguitars.com/store/product/10503/3414-Electric-Guitar-Black/ but no Bareny Kessel copy.

Thanks for your comment, Kevin! I think I have seen some talk online regarding that guitar before. In fact, some people weren't able to identify it but just mentioned the Les Paul copy that sounds so good. I will certainly take a look at your Shaftbury links as I'm in the market for some things. But I can't say that I've ever seen one on the East Coast that I was aware of. I love your old band photos on FB, BTW! -Chris
